Pretty Gross and Pretty Gorgeous

Kasey had Prom on Saturday. She looked so pretty in her dress and her hair done. She even got her nails done this year...Thanks Bobby Jo!!! One of her friends made the boutineer for her. (Thanks Kayla!!!) She made two to make sure she remembered how to do it so Mason wore one to church on Sunday. Of course it came home in pieces.

Saturday night Scott and I were at his parents' house picking up their car so I could head to Kanab for Aunt Nada's funeral. I was going down the steps to the garage and somehow missed a step. I landed on my left foot and my ankle bent forward and popped loudly...I continued falling forward onto the cement and hit my right knee. I tore my pants and scrubbed the knee pretty good. Scott took me directly to the Emergency room where we learned that I sprained my ankle badly. It is swollen and very sore as is my right knee and a few other places I wasn't aware of until the day after. I go back to my Doctor in two weeks to have it X-rayed again to make sure there aren't any hairline fractures. So I am with crutches and my ankle is wrapped in an ace wrap with a brace around it. Not fun, and I can't do much. A lesson in patience and enduring for sure!

Scott went in for a check-up on his arm yesterday. He is all clear and fine. The feeling still isn't back completely, but the Dr said he should be back to as normal as he can get within 6 months. Good news!

Justin went in with Scott to have his shoulder checked. He is scheduled for surgery on the 17th of this month. He's anxious to get it fixed so he can do the things he wants without it popping out on him. This must be the year for Dr bills...yahoo...NOT!

Kurtis Shines

Kurtis came home from school last week and announced that he had been knocked out during PE. He was playing "touch" football. He and a friend were going for the same guy when he turned and Kurtis collided with his friend. Of course, his friend's head was down and Kurtis ran into it face first. He said he was out for about 15-20 seconds. He has a nice shiner to show off now. The bruise has gone almost around his whole eye now. I'm trying to decide if he's proud of it or not...I think he is!

Synthesis Concert

The City built a stage in the City Park by the library and had an opening "gala" for it. Synthesis played so I was able to get some pics of Justin. Kurt Bestor played with them for one of the songs...an arrangement he wrote for the band. They also accompanied a couple of the acting groups here in town as they performed. It was a cold and slightly rainy day, but fun to be there. By the way, he plays the flute and piccolo too...

Hogle Zoo meets Orchard 1st Graders

What an eventful week it has been. Wednesday was a fun day. I got to go to the zoo with the first graders. I haven't been to the zoo since Kasey was a little girl in the stroller. I thought maybe I better go so they didn't leave Mason in the monkey pen. (HaHa!)

And it really does fly! I can't believe it's April already. Devin has been out over a year now. He was just recently made District Leader and loves his new responsibilities. He's still in Lynn and doesn't want to leave. Justin is home and will finish his first semester at BYU this week. He made it into Synthesis which is the Jazz band at BYU and is one of the top Jazz bands on the college level in the nation. They just spent the day on Saturday recording and will be travelling to Nauvoo in August. Kasey was asked to Prom and is working to pay for her dress. She is on the Stake Youth Committee and is enjoying her responsibilites there. Kurtis is the president of the teacher's quorum and is getting ready to mow lawns again this summer. He will be busy with football practice again, too. Kadin is now a scout and is enjoying his activities. He went on the Klondike Derby in February and had a lot of fun. He stayed warm for the most part. Mason is doing well in school. He is a shark right now (he has two rows of teeth on the bottom since his two front adult teeth have come in in back of the baby teeth). One of his baby teeth is loose, his first one, and he's excited for that. But the Dentist will probably be the one to pull it out if he doesn't get busy! Scott and I are staying busy with our callings and the family. Work is hectic right now and very busy. We are looking forward to summer and the new kind of busy it brings.

March

Scott found out he had cubital tunnel in his left arm/hand. The ulnar nerve that runs down past your elbow (the funny bone) was pinched causing numbness in his ring and pinky fingers and a bit of pain in his arm. In the surgery the Dr moved the nerve and bypassed it around the elbow. There was a lot of scar tissue around the nerve when his arm was cut into. The Dr said it was one of the worst cases he'd seen. FUN!!! We are still hoping the surgery was a success as he still doesn't have the feeling back in his fingers. It will take some time for the nerve to regenerate. Hopefully by the time he goes in for his follow-up the first of May he'll notice a difference.

February

February was a fun and busy month. Kadin turned 11 this month...we have a break from Cub Scouts! He earned his arrow of light, a bunch of activity badges, and his religious knot. He was awarded these at the Blue and Gold Banquet. Congrats on your hard work, Kadin!

He also conducted an experiement for the Science Fair. He determined if you can prevent an onion from stinging your eyes by changing its environment. Quite the experiment!

I got creative this year with Kadin's Valentine's box. He let me do it without knowing what I'd do. I surprised him and he really liked it.

We, or I should say Kasey, got a visit from a couple of cupids on Valentine's Day. A couple of the neighbor boys come and visit her frequently. It's always fun to see what they will do. Crazy kids!!!

After Christmas our family had a special occasion. One of Scott's sisters and her husband adopted a little girl from Ethiopia. We had the chance to go to the temple and see her sealed to her family for all eternity. What a joy!

Always remember to take the time to acknowledge the many wonders our Heavenly Father has given us. They are truly amazing and we are richly blessed.

DECEMBER

We anxiously anticipated Justin's homecoming and were excited when the day finally got here. The weather was rainy and snowy. We had to wait a bit at the airport and had the camera ready every time we saw someone in a suit coming down the escalator. We weren't the only ones anxiously waiting for their Elder or Sister to get home! It was great to see him again after 2 years. The time really did fly by!

Christmas was great. It was different having Justin home but was a good adjustment to make after he'd been gone so long.
