Thanksgiving 2009

We had the opportunity to travel to Grandma and Grandpa's 'new' house for Thanksgiving. It was a quick trip since we didn't leave until Thursday morning and were home just after noon on Saturday. (Scott took me to the Trans-Siberian Orchestra concert on Wednesday and there was an all-important football game between BYU and Utah on Saturday.) It was a lot of fun and good to get out of town for a couple of days. We stayed at the ranch and the kids enjoyed the 4-wheelers on Friday. I got home and realized I didn't even take any pictures. You'll have to take my word for it, the house looks great!

Issues...

Mason: "Mom, I have issues."
Mom: "You have what?"
Mason: "Issues."
Mom: "And just what 'issues' do you have?"
Mason: "My nose is stuffy and I am sneezing a lot. I need some of that allergy medicine!"

Who would have thought a 5 year old would know what 'issues" were. A good laugh in my day.

I'm all Caught Up...until Tomorrow!

WHEWWWW!!! You are now caught up to the happenings at our house the last few months. It has been a busy summer. I have been canning and taking care of the family, cleaning and reading books. We had a great bean crop this year and I canned over 100 pints of beans. From empty shelves to full. I have also made grape jelly, a first. It's pretty good. We have an abundance of apples thanks to Scott's dad, so I have apples to do too. I've already dried some, but have lots to go.

Devin recieved his mission call last week and we are all super excited for him. He is ready to learn Cambodian. Justin is doing very well and enjoying his mission. It's hard to believe he's almost to his 1 year mark. Kurtis is busy with merit badge powwow. He will have 3 more merit badges when he is done. He can't wait to be able to start working on his Eagle. He still has some time before he can, but he's on track.

Life is good. We are thankful to family and friends for your love and support. It is a time to think about our blessings and we are truly blessed. We hope you are all well and happy. Enjoy the updates...until next time, be happy!

The Newest Member of the Family

We had an opportunity that we couldn't pass up. Some people that used to live in our ward were looking for a new home for their English Bulldog. Long story short, we ended up with him. Scott has always wanted a bulldog and jumped at the chance. I was a little hesitant, but couldn't pass up that face. He is a really good dog and fits well in the family.

Halloween 2009

This year I volunteered to help with the Kindergarten Halloween party. I was in charge of the story time rotation. Needless to say, I ended up walking in the costume parade with the kids as well. By the time the morning was over, I had had my fill of Halloween. I will usually do something for Halloween (costume or strange makeup) but didn't feel like it this year. I had done it for the party. We got the yard decorated again, but I would have rather not. Oh well. It's done, Halloween is over, and we all survived!

Fall Break in Moab

We decided it was time to go on a vacation, so we loaded up the kids and took Ramzi to Aunt Michelle's and headed to Moab. We had a ball. We got there Thursday evening and checked into our motel. Then we drove to the Corona Arch trailhead to park and hiked to the arch. It was a fun hike. The kids enjoyed the pool and hot tub at the motel that night. Friday we went to Arches and hiked, and hiked, and hiked, and hiked. Kadin didn't feel well so he was a challenge, but he hiked with us anyway. Saturday we checked out then went into Arches again to see a couple more arches. Then we drove to Dead Horse Point and looked around. I am glad we went. It was worth every sore muscle! It was a lot of fun and good to get out and do some "wholesome recreational activities". Can't wait until the next one.

That's Our Girl!

High School brings many fun events. We are experiencing those with our daughter this year. She is so excited to be a Sophomore She made it on the Sophomore Volley Ball team. She turned 16. It was a good day for her. She enjoyed gifts from friends, a decorated room, a cake from the young women, gifts and a cake from mom & dad, and yes, she even got asked to homecoming. An eventful day it was. Homecoming was AWESOME. She was picked up in a double decker bus that the guys rented. The driver lives around the corner from us. She loved it and had so much fun on her first date. She has good classes and actually switched them around so she could fit band in. So now she's in the Wind Symphony. She finally got her roading in so she can get her license as soon as she gets her hours done and can pay for insurance. She had a date to Sadie Hawkins and again had a lot of fun. Life is full for her.

KINDERGARTEN!!!!

My baby has started school. Am I sad? NO WAY!! He is so ready, and I am too. I will be volunteering regularly at the school which will be different. Fun times!

Eagle and Star

Devin was finally awarded his Eagle Scout badge in August. He has been waiting for a friend of his to complete his as well so they could have a combined court of honor. It was a fun evening. Kurtis received his Star that night too. We are proud of your accomplishments!

Family Reunion Time

We had a blast at the family reunion in July. Scott, Kurtis, and Devin weren't able to go since they were on the Scout Super Activity, but the rest of us had a lot of fun. I was just glad to be able to go. It's been a while since we have been to the ranch. The kids stayed busy in the pool, playing, fishing, and riding the four wheelers. Vern and Jen brought lunch on Saturday and we got to visit with them for a while. It rained pretty good that day too. The thunder was loud! Thanks for a fun weekend, Grandma & Grandpa.
