Devin looked nice for Prom. It was a rainy day, but they had fun. It was his last prom before the big graduation.

I have recently found a fun website to help me keep track of the books I have read & want to read. I added a link to my blog for those that might be interested. It's the goodreads.com addition in the right hand column. I will try to be better at my reviews so you can decide if you want to read a book. Most of them are really good, in my opinion. Some aren't as good. Some books haven't got a review because it's been a while since I read them. But I will post reviews on the ones I read now. I enjoy reading, sometimes a little too much!

I think if you click on a book in the link at the right it will take you to a page where it shows more info on the book. This is new, so give it a try & let me know what happens!

Happy Spring? Break!

I guess it's spring. Could fool you by looking outside! We woke up to almost 8 inches of snow on the ground this morning. It won't last long, but we sure are ready for warm weather. We might get a garden planted some day, if it ever dries out long enough to get it plowed & planted.

That's 7 1/2 inches on the ruler.

The snow made the branches heavy, only a small one fell so far.

Easter was fun. Mason was invited to an Easter egg hunt at the neighbor's. He had fun finding eggs with quarters in them.



The kids had fun coloring eggs again this year. We enjoyed a visit from Grandma & Grandpa Spencer while they were here for Grandpa's check-up.

















Mason had fun with the plastic eggs. Kurtis made him Mr. Muscle Man!



Life is great. We are doing well & hope you are too. Only 1 1/2 months until school is out & we will be busy with summer activities. Can't believe we'll have another graduate. He's looking forward to it. Enjoy your April!

Seussical the Musical

The Musical was a success!!! Just to remind you, Kasey was a camel & Kurtis was a water buffalo. They did a good job & had a lot of fun. The night we went, we were sprayed with silly string & a water gun. Balloons fell on us at the end. Quite an event! They worked hard & wore themselves out. We are glad it's over so they have more time to get things done. Hope you enjoy the pics.

March

Oh my! It's March!!! I have been going to get this blog updated for a while now, but sorry to say it's not on the top of the list. I guess it's time I do something though.

Devin celebrated his 18th birthday in January. He got on a kick taking pics of himself, so I am going to share some of them with you...he's not going to like this, but I can't let his expertise go unnoticed. We have these & a few more I didn't post on the screen saver. They make me laugh!







Devin went to Boston the end of January. Most of you know already, but his trombone got driven over & mashed the first day he was there. Long story. It looked awful. He got a loaner to play while he was there. We had insurance on it so we took it in to get it fixed when he got home. They didn't do a very good job on it. We weren't too pleased with the way it looked & complained. After a change of heart, the company decided to replace the bell. Hooray! It looks almost new again. Much better than this:




Life has been busy for us the last couple of months (hmmmm, guess that's why I haven't been current here!) Kadin celebrated his 9th birthday in February. Another year older, and wiser? too!




Kadin has been studying rain forests in school. They are making a rain forest replica in his classroom. Each student chose an animal to study then make to put in it. He chose a reticulated python. We made one out of egg cartons. It ended up about 6 feet long. He liked it.



Kadin also earned his Wolf badge in Cub Scouts. It was awarded to him at the Blue & Gold banquet this month. Along with it he earned a gold and 3 silver Arrow Points. They didn't call mom up for him to pin her pin on, so we had him do it afterward so I could get a pic...he wouldn't pin it. Barely got him to stand next to me after I did it myself. We are proud of him & his accomplishments.






Kasey got her learner's driving permit last week...UGH!!! Now she is pestering me to take her driving. I don't know about this. My boys had driver's ed before I got in the car with them. This new law of getting a learner's when you turn 15 is rediculous. I'm not ready for this yet!

Justin is doing well. I hope you are all enjoying his letters. I know he likes receiving them from you.

I got a cool new camera for my birthday, but I haven't figured out how to get the pictures to download onto my blog yet. I will get the new software installed and give it a try. (UPDATE....figured it out! Pictures are posted!!)

Salt Crystals

We made salt crystals in preschool yesterday. They are so cool, we wanted you to see them. The one on the left is Mason's. The one on the right is Diane's. FUN!

January

Happy New Year!!! WOW, can you believe it's 2009?

Time flies when you're having fun, and we've been having fun...I guess. We actually got snow for Christmas and the first of the year and there's still some on the ground. It's hard & crunchy, but still there. The kids have had fun sledding over at the school. They built another slide in the front yard, but it has melted down to where they can't really slide on it anymore. It's been cold, but not as cold as Alaska!

Devin's Chicago trip was a lot of fun. He got to do a lot of fun things including seeing the musical "Wicked" and going to a Blue Man Group concert. Yes, they did perform too! He brought us home some neat Christmas presents that he got at an open air market there. What an experience he had.



Kasey & Kurtis have been busy with play rehearsals. We have started their costumes and will be working on them this week...yay. They are quite interesting. Nothing like a Dr. Seuss camel and water buffalo...I can't wait to see the finished product.

Devin kept us busy the last couple of weeks with his Eagle project. Talk about waiting until the last minute to get it done. He chose to make fleece blankets for Project Linus, a national organization that donates handmade blankets to hospitals to give to children. The goal was 100, and we got 64 done. It took a lot of time and effort, but he finished it up Saturday, the day before his birthday!

Devin also had Preference on Saturday. He headed out the door with his date 30 minutes after he handed in his Eagle application. Perfect timing.

Justin is doing great. He is in his first area, Gridley California. We haven't heard from him yet this week, but hope to soon. It is fun hearing about his experiences and feeling his testimony through his emails and letters.

Preschool is going well. I lost one student so I combined my 3 & 4 year olds into one class and only teach on Tuesday & Thursday. It has been nice only teaching two days a week instead of four. I have lots more time to do other things...like clean my house, ick!

Well, that gets you caught up on our comings & goings for the month. We hope all is well with each of you. Happy Birthday to Vern & Von...enjoy it! And we're off to another wonderful year.
