HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

I have tried to get in touch with Mark, but haven't been successful yet. I didn't leave a message, so he didn't get back with me! So I am putting a birthday greeting here in hopes he will get it. I may catch up to him before he sees it. At least you'll know I am thinking about you. Happy Birthday on Tuesday, Mark! Love you!

What a Week!

OK, so I spent two hours on this blog this afternoon trying to get it updated. It didn't work too well & I was sooooo frustrated. I am starting over in hopes that it's better this time. I am breaking up our week into seperate headings in hopes it's easier. Here goes...

What a week! We have been so busy with all the end of school activities. I am glad school is at an end. Summer will certainly go quick, but it will be a nice break. As mom (Grandma Spencer) told me, I'll be ready when school starts again. I agree. I always am. But for now I am excited for summer.

After Young Women's camp I should have some time to do some things I want to do. I would like to get back into tole painting. I have a list of books I would like to read. I would love to make some all-occasion cards. I have wanted to get memory books started for the kids. My goal is to have Justin's finished by the time he gets home from his mission. Michelle, I may be calling you to borrow your cricut! My house always needs a good cleaning...and the list goes on. I think these will take longer than just one summer, but it's a start. I am looking forward to visiting mom & dad in July and doing nothing, at least almost nothing.

I told Scott I would like a vacation (without the kids) sometime. I have him thinking on that one. We'll see what he comes up with on a very minimal budget. He gets to be creative! I don't expect it will happen this year.

To start it off...

Kadin's school class had a unit on American Indians this month. His teacher sent a note home saying they usually took 6 weeks on it, but they were doing it in 2. Whoa! He chose to do a report on the Pawnee Indians. He made a replica of the Pawnee lodge dwelling. He did a good job on it. He finally got his report done and gave his presentation in class two days before school gets out.

Wednesday-Spring Concerts

The Junior High band director inadvertently scheduled their Spring Concert on the same night as the High School Spring Concert, Wednesday May 20. FUN! Thankfully the directors worked it out so parents of kids in both schools could make it to both. Kasey & Kurtis' concert was a theme concert and they got to dress the part. Kasey was disco & Kurtis was hippy. Don't they look "cute"?

Daniel got in on it too. It sure has been fun hearing him play his tuba. Thank you, Michelle, for sending me the pics.


And then there's Devin's concert. I actually got a picture of him! Or should I say his trombone.

Monday-Let's go Hiking!

Scott didn't want to sit around being bored for his day off on Memorial Day, so we took Kadin up on his idea to hike to the "Y". We started at 5,147 ft and climbed up to 6,221 ft. It was quite the hike, especially for this out-of-shape mom, but we all did fine. Mason enjoyed it. He would have been the first to the top if he could have gone by himself. But he had to wait for me. "Come on, Mom!" were his famous words. You will notice that Devin wasn't with us. He was a party pooper and stayed home. He hiked it a couple of weeks before for his prom day-date. I think he just didn't want to have to wait for his slow parents. Click on the slide show to see bigger pictures.

Tuesday-Last Day of Preschool

I can honestly say that I have been a preschool teacher. I did it! Now I can move on to whatever is next. I won't be teaching next year. Mason did well considering he knew almost all of what I was teaching. I did manage to teach him something new & stretch him a bit. Way to go Mason! You did it!!

Wednesday-Dance Festival

Kadin participated in the Elementary dance festival today. Sorry, no pictures. I was sitting there thinking as I was watching, only 6 more years of dance festivals to go. Hmmmmm.
